Love, Politics & Religion: Let's Take Christianity Back From Far-Right Haters
Love is Simple. Love is Kind & Caring & Help.
It is compassionate, empathetic, and responds to the needs of others.
LOVE in Action is HELP.
Love proves itself in help—emotional and physical support that improves people’s lives. Help lifts people up.
LOVE is the basis of ALL RELIGIONS. All the major religions point the same way with a central teaching, the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” All religions understand the immense power of love.
In politics, love is providing HELP, including Basic Human Rights, so people can thrive:
- Clean Water
- Food
- Medicines
- Health Care
- Great Education
- Housing
- Job Benefits
- Retirement
- Gun Control
Loving political policies offering simple, basic HELP save a great deal of money in the long run and pay off in peace and prosperity.
Taking good care of people is the most LOVING or CHRISTIAN thing we can do.
What Would Jesus Do? Jesus would also fight for these things.
Far-right Christian haters have Jesus all wrong:
- Jesus especially loved the poor, sinners and outcasts hated by others. He hung out with them and tried to lift them up.
- He told people not to judge others 34 times.
- The Bible has 2,103 verses emphasizing taking care of the poor.
- Jesus tells people to help the poor or reject wealth 128 times.
- Jesus talked about mercy to the weak or needy 24 times.
- Jesus talked about loving and forgiving even enemies 53 times.
- He treated everyone, no matter the race, class, gender, or sexual history, with dignity, love and justice.
- The Bible has over 100 verses about welcoming the immigrant and loving them as we love ourselves and our children.
- Jesus would rail in anger against immigration hysteria, fear of foreigners and policies against immigrants.
- The Parable Of The Good Samaritan makes this very clear. Jews distrusted, feared and hated Samaritan foreigners. In this parable, Jesus says the immigrant may be better than even our holy men.
